Tulum: What To Eat

My FAVE Beachside Restaurant…

Is Gitano!! The servers, bartenders, hosts, everything, and everyone is HOT! It is set in the jungle side, on the beach road. It is a super trendy spot, and there are no rules! The rhythm, dining experience, and vibe merges all the gypsies, influencers, celebrities, visitors, locals, and the have nots, together and equally! Gitano offers a variety of traditional and fusion dishes, so you will not go wrong with any selection! If you are not hungry, and want to skip a meal, just order one of their signature cocktails drinks, or sip on some Mezcal from their extended list. Make your reservations with plenty of time; otherwise, you may not get in, as it is jam-packed nightly, and for a good reason! If this place doesn’t fit quite fit your realm, then I recommend that you try other fusion and appetizing dishes at Hartwood, Kin Toh, Kitchen Table, and Arca!

My Fave Breakfast Spots are Raw Love, Fresco's, Tunich, Ziggy’s, and La Zebra.

Dine-in suggestions:

If you are vegan, check out Raw Love, El Vegetariano, and Co.ConAmor!

If not, head out to El Camello Jr, El Asadero, and Pook Chuuk Burgers!

I will firmly say this: skip the tacos and eat the burgers!! Yes, I know! Who goes to Tulum to eat a burger? I do! And so should you, and here’s why: Pook Chuuk Burgers are freshly made to order; they are so big, juicy, and mouth-watering! The chef/owner is so creative and has carefully and thoughtfully crafted several burgers to meet everyone’s needs! I recommend that you also try their oatmeal apple or Rosemary and Hibiscus (Jamaica) drink!! Trust me, you will thank me later!!

But if YOU must eat tacos, then get to Taqueria Honorio OR La Chiapaneca early because they run out of their meats daily!

For a savory breakfast, I recommend Azafran, Tropicalove, la Coqueta, and DelCielo Bistro, which is by far the best breakfast spot in Tulum! If you do not mind waiting and possibly sharing a table, and making new friends, then DelCielo is for YOU! Their menu consists of healthy specialty dishes made with local, mostly organic, and homemade nutritious ingredients (gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options are also available)! Their authentic juices/smoothies, hydrating elixirs, but above all, their coffees are ahhhmazinggg!!!! DelCielo closes early, so get there quick and take a seat—they will call you! You will not be disappointed!

And for a flavorful drink and some nightly entertainment, head out to Batey Mojito Bar! This artsy spot makes their mojitos with fresh sugar cane juice that is pressed on the spot, out of the back of a multi-colored converted VW Beetle. It’s worth the Insta pic! So, swing by and try one, two, or all of the Mojito flavors available! Apparently, they serve food too LOL! It is decently priced, per US standard. And as they locally say: good day, bad day, every day, BATEY!
